Desperate for a sponsor

Hi everyone I am 2 months in n.a.I 've been searching for a sponsor like crazy for a month and it starting to affect my recovery journey a bit. I come from a city where most of my na meetings it extremely young crowd and I m in my 30s I 've tried someone in the rooms we total couldn't relate because of the age and the maturity level however we still friends I felt like I was sponsoring her. Right now I'm at the point where my head is spinning each and every meeting I go too the emphasize and pressure the need of the sponsor. I am starting even to skip some meeting cause it always the same question do u have a sponsor I need someone urgently please please help

....hi there LL,,,you mention being in a city,,,likely a fair number of meetings there,,perhaps some you haven't been to all yet? I've certainly seen it where the 'crowd' has a certain set of show-and-shine's where the cool set go,,and another set where the long-term recovering addicts seem to be. ...Just in case your 'city' is actually a town, and there aren't too many choices afterall, you might consider checking out a broader field. My recovery started in a smaller centre,, I much appreciate the 'recovery is recovery' perspective of other groups www.addiction.com/meeting-finder/

Hi Mika thank u so much for the respond. I 've waisted a fortune on different meetings went all over the show to nothing. I just need someone who knows how to do the step work. Ibve bang my head all over . I was hoping for anyone on this site just to guard me and be a temporal sponsor before I lose my mind. The set of friends I 've made in recovery all have sponsors and as soon as they see me it all have u gotta sponsor as yet, it has come to a point where I don even want to be there or around any of them anymore ,please someone help me

.....'principles before personalities',,,an important phrase from the readings. Remember it's more important to be at a meeting for what you get out of it than any annoyances that may arise.
....it sounds like u gotta lotta persons taking your inventory for you,,not necessarily a helpful thing,,, but it IS important to make direct personal connections, and actually -ask- someone to be a temporary or permanent sponsor.

You're totally welcome to come here and share before and after you find a sponsor,,not as 1 to 1 as meetings and sponsors, but it can be helpful.

First of all, it's up to you to ask someone to be your sponsor. We aren't suppose to volunteer! And while the new pamphlet says you can have a sponsor of a different sex, most old heads feel you need to find one of the same sex.

Every area is different. Finding a lady sponsor in my area can be challenging. We HOPE you find one right away.
