41 days clean - longest in 3 years and need more support.

Hello everyone,

My name is Rob and I am an addict. I have been using drugs and alcohol since I was 16 years old and except for 19 months in 2007-2008 and a few days here and there I have struggled for two plus decades. I have had heart attacks, a stroke, and homelessness but 42 days ago I decided I was not getting younger and was tired of the life so decided to try again. I am moving forward in sobriety and life but past few days have been struggling.

Going through a divorce, live with my ex and her and I remain great friends. She has 4 years clean. It is hard though. I am disabled and have not worked in years and live off of $800 a month SSI check which only allows me to afford a small hotel room in a hotel full of addicts and dealers. I see triggers every time I go out the door, I try to go to meetings when I get money for the bus but do go to outpatient groups regularly.

I am enrolled for school to be an EMT if I can move to where I am enrolled (600 miles away) starting in November. I blog about politics and take pics daily, try to stay busy. Thanks for listening and god bless.

.....good onya Rob,,,sounds like you've got a lot on your plate, but moving the right direction. I'll bet that move to school and a new neighborhood soon does you well. Pray,, have faith in things working out,,,, but remember to ''trust in gawd,,,but tie up your horse'',, keep taking that right-next-step....and remember you've got a cheering section here!!

Welcome. Don't use, go to NA meetings, get a sponsor, join a home group, work the steps, and do some service. It works if you work it.

Hello and Welcome to MIP ROBB

I am an addict named Mike...Yes we suggest making meetings, listening to learn and above all putting down the substance.WE also know that those who value Sponsorship get the most from our Program. Our goal is recovery through application of the STEPS,WORKED WITH A SPONSOR, IN ALL AREAS OF OUR LIVES and not just abstinence.WE make a 100% 1st step AND THEN DO THE DAILY WORK necessary to remain in that fit spiritual condition and remain free of active addiction.Want this more than anything and take it ODAT.In support and prayer.Big ups for reaching out,WE are here ,one helping another in a loving and caring manner and can truly identify..Hope to here more from you.Stay connected to those who have found another way to live through application of the Program and not using...You can do this,WE can do it together.......smilesmile
