sponsor relapse- looking for experience, strength, and hope

cry  Feeling lots of emotions.  Just found out that my sponsor relapsed and has been using for the past 6 months.  Feeling sad, angry, betrayed, sad, denial, sad...  Can't stop crying.  I don't want a new sponsor- I want my sponsor back!  Please share your experience, strength, and hope!  I could really use some support.

...Rikki,,,I certainly have no great answers for what you're going through.
..I'm glad you've reached-out!!!
....do you have others close to you you can reach-out,,call,,,have close?? ...it's important for you to take care,,,surround yourself with recovery,,,,reach out to a higher power of your understanding

...I had a sponsor who did the same,,,I'm never sure if he -ever- fully came back,,shattered my already shakey trust for quite some time,,but I'm glad to say that over time,,I've found another--someone who's readily willing to speak of their struggles as they come up....probably a good sign.

I wish you peace and serenity as you view how nasty this disease can be,,,just for today!

I'm sorry for the loss you are experiencing.
Sponsors are addicts too and they are far from perfect.
Maybe you can pray that your sponsor finds recovery again.
In the meantime, you need to get a new sponsor, not use, go to meetings, and work your program.
Keep coming back.

rikki , Sorry to hear about your sponsor . I think you should have a one on one talk with your sponsor . I have a friend whose sponsor relapsed on meds after a accident , at that point the man had twenty years clean . There is no set rule that you can't keep your sponsor , it is your decision , you and them have shared a lot of important stuff together . Hope everything goes well .
