Guidance on traditions.

Hi everyone. I need some guidance in an issue my home group is having and would love to get some experience on it. One of the members has been making food for people who attend the meeting and people who just show. She has considered this service work and enjoys doing thus(no monies for this have come out of 7th tradition and our rent etc is paid and we make regular donations to area). Another member has brought up that this is against the 7th tradition and we should stop doing this. So my question is this. Is this something that interferes with 7th tradition or not and why?
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to MIP.
Groups should be fully self supporting.
That being said it does not say anywhere that all members must contribute equally.
If she is a group member and puts out food in the name of the group, I see no problem with it.
Many groups put out cookies, cake, soda, and other assorted foods. My home group is a noon meeting and
for about a year one of women made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches....then she got tired and just put out a jar PB
a jar of jelly, a knife and a loaf of bread.....LOL....most people didn't make a sandwich, but I gotta tell you, those who did
really wolfed it down...Made me think that it was the first solid food they had that day.
Does not violate any tradition that I'm aware of.

I see no problem with this. She enjoys cooking and other enjoy eating. Just make sure you clean up the mess.
