We made a decision to turn our will and our life over to the care of God as we understood him.

What this means is that I am deciding to stop running the show, doing things my way. I'm deciding to do things according to the way of God as I understand him.
For me, this means I am deciding to not use, go to meetings, work the steps, get a sponsor, hang out with people who are not using, do some service work, and just do the next right thing.

Hi Marty, and welcome to our recovery forum.
Good question.
I believe it's important because WE make the decision to change.
No one makes it for us.
It's an old truth that addicts won't stop using untill they decide for themselves that they have had enough
and want help.
When you make the decision to turn your will (your thoughts) and your life (your actions) over to a higher power
then you are accepting that you can't do this on your own, and reaching out to a power greater than yourself.
If done sincerely, it is a powerful moment in your recovery.
Glad you stopped by, and hope to hear more from you.

Hi Marty.
My name is Raman..im a clean addict....

Yes to all of the above.
And, Ive learnt (mostly the hard way) that decision implies action. The best days of my recovery have been those when I was
willing to let go of intense, unbearable situations.
In Stepping Away, I no longer had to fight negative feelings and situations.

More importantly, the Third is the Gateway to the Fourth and the rest of the 12 Steps. It is the firm Spiritual Foundation
for True Transformation and Psychic Change.

And without these changes, I, an addict, cant stay in recovery.

By the Grace of God, the decisions in the 3rd will positively impact my recovery.

Best of NA to you my friend.
