Hello yall and how do you do ????....And an especial hello to the newcomer.
My name is Raman and Im an addict. Clean and serene in NA, just for today.
And whether the addicts name is raman or corey or whitney or abdul or jim or jack or ravi or whoever, addiction does'nt care. We are just anonymous pieces of flesh, nameless bodies, forever willing to be of service to the addiction empire. The addiction empire is not based on democratic values. There is no choice but to keep on using and go on to miserable ends. It is estimated by the narcotics control bureaus of many countries in the world that the economy based on drugs, illegal arms, sex-trade, gambling and other vices is perhaps twice or more the size of the legitimate economy in many countries. Addiction is in control over the users life, the economy and fate of millions that have addictive personalities. And addicts that are still using, participate wholeheartedly in keeping that parallel economy strong and vibrant. First its just the using, then the compulsiveness and crime. The rich addicts pay addiction with their own money and others pay with others. In the end, they all pay with their lives.
Addiction certainly does'nt discriminate. Rich, poor, colour, race, nationality, the only requirement there is s desire to keep on using, no matter that it ends in jails, institutions and death.
But there is hope. Many artistes, actors and public people are finding recovery. And Im proud to say that many of them are N.A members. This is giving a whole lot of people a lot if hope.
And all that said and done, Im gratful to The Force that keeps me clean and serene, that Im in recovery, which means Ive stopped using, I have no desire to use and have found a new way of life. Yes, by the Grace of God. And if I had to praise God each and every minute of my life, Id glady do that too !
Keep coming back, it works and thanks for letting me share !

Yet another in a long decades long litany whose fame brought fortune and easy abundant supplies of drugs leading to death. Indeed we have lost many talents. How many die who aren't famous who go unmourned by the media masses? Countless have died and yet I live. But by the Grace of my Higher Power whom I choose to call God through the Power of NA go I. My names Mike, I'm a grateful Recovering Addict.

Celebrities play an important part in our culture.
We are so obsessed with them that when some problem befalls them, it's often the only way many people learn.
I'm recalling illnesses that celebrities get that may not be so common. After the initial sensational coverage,
articles start popping up like "just what is parkinsons disease" (many first learned of this condition after Michael J. Fox got it)
There are many many other examples. So yes, the unknown victims of our disease are just as worthy of mourning as the
celebrities, but due to our national obsession with fame, when one of them dies, or goes to jail, the public gets reminded yet again,
of just how huge an epidemic this disease actually is.
And yes....many celebs lke Clapton, etc.etc. carry a message of what can he done while
the others that arevstill using or the poor souls that die using show us what not to do...
And nothings wasted in God's economy. !
