Welcome Jeffrey. Here at MIP you will find encouragement as well as experience, strength and hope. Are you attending NA meetings? I can't emphasize strongly enough how important it is for a newcomer to work the program. Going to meetings and asking for help, reading NA literature, and listening to other addicts is a great way to start. Thanks for joining us. I look forward to hearing more about your journey in recovery.
Well, my first reply disappeared. Hi Jeff? I'm new, 12 days. Not sure where you are from, but my hesitance to attend NA Meetings at THIS point in my recovery, is because so often the dope man is waiting just outside the door. I've attended AA, but my sharing is limited because they don't want to hear about drugs at many of the meetings. I am glad you are here too.
Dealing outside of an NA meeting. Not cool. I wonder how other groups have handled this situation. It wouldn't surprise me if the police got an anonymous tip about a drug dealer complete with license plate number.
Hi Avid, it isn't cool and they are everywhere, on foot. No license plate to be had... They even wait outside of Drug Court Services!!!! I was fortunate at THAT time, I didn't even know what to say to a dope dealer. Now, it has scared the hell out of me.
Tell that dealer to Hit The Road Man I Ain't Using No More !!!!! They will do everything to get you back .I have had to stay away from my home town because they all always ask me the same thing if I see them .A lot of my past associates look like the Walking Dead . Use your willpower and stay away from them .
I am going to my first AA meeting, since stopping June 18th. Don't feel strong enuff at this point to risk NA. We even had a bad case of the pill sharers at the old AA of my hometown. So, I'm really glad I'm new in this town. Don't know a soul...
