What can u do when that 1 place u came to find early in recovery where u can feel welcomed, at home, loved, be a part of, get that 1st taste of service, & u call ur home group, gets so complacent or whatever it may be thts causing soooo much disunity, judgement, favoritism, and such a general lack of practicing spiritual principals tht it pushes other group members as well as newcomers away?? I know tht if someone in the fellowship dislikes a specific mtg & decides 2 leave &quit going, tht its that addicts choice, not the groups fault. (Or so I've been told several times) But the whole unity issue has been brought to the groups attention multiple times but jus seems 2 stick for a week or2 before it falls along the wayside. Anyways, I could seriously use all the E.S.H. I can handle on this. There is lots more to this tht im not gonna disclose on here. But in a nutshell, this is where im coming frm, but I think it best jus 2 leave it @ this because after all, we're all addicts & in my program, im workin hard 2 allow ppl 2 be where they are & practice loving them despite what they may be acting out on. PLZ ALL OF U OUT THERE, ALL U PREDECESSORS ON HERE AND EVEN YALL NEWCOMERS! I DONT JUS WANNA, BUT NEED YALLS E.S.&H ON WUT U GOT. CUZ IT DON'T MATTER IF YA GOTS 2DAYS CLEAN OR 20 YRS CLEAN, U NEVER KNOW WHEN U SHARE SOMETHING TO A FELLOW ADDICT THAT JUST MAY SAVE THEIR LIFE! I HAVE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN 2 EYES; A FELLOW ADDICT WITH 3 1/2 YRS CLEAN STARTED STRUGGLING WIT SOME PERSONAL ISSUES AND CAME 2 A MTG FULL OF NEWCOMERS. THE GUY WITH 3 YRS CLEAN HAD CAME 2 THT MTG THAT NITE JUST 2 SEE ALL HIS FELLOW FRIENDS & ADDICTS RITE B4 HE WAS GOING 2 LEAVE THE FELLOWSHIP ENTIRELY & ALREADY HAD DOPE ON HIM WHEN SOME NEWCOMER WITH A LIL OVER 36HRS CLEAN WALKED UP AND HUGGED HIM & BEGAN 2 TELL OTHER DUDE HIS STORY. WELL, APPARENTLY, SOMETHING THAT NEWCOMER SHARED WITH DUDE WIT SUM CLEAN TIME TOUCHED HIM SO HARD & TRUE THT THE GUY WHO WAS BOUT 2 RELAPSE CAME CLEAN WITH THE WHOLE MTG, AND WE DONE A 12TH STEP RITE THEN AND THERE! SO ALL U NEWCOMERS, JUS REMEMBER THAT STORY, AND ALSO: THE ABILITY 2 SAVE SOMEONES LIFE HAS NO CLEANTIME REQUIREMENTS!!!
Thx Dave. U are exactly rite. and all I am tryin 2 do is get some ES&H on this situation, cuz its directly affecting my recovery. I am almost 2 the point of leaving my homegroup because the fact is, the recovery in tht particular room is practicality nonexistent. I was always taught tht if it could potentially hurt my recovery that it is an issue I should address. But thx 4 ur comment bro. I get where ur coming frm
You may need to leave your home group. That's something you can control. You can also bring up the topic at group business meetings. Having a supportive home group is key pillar of recovery. If this one is not working for you, seek another.
