i need advice please fast!!!!!!

Hello all..... I'm bubba and I am a addict no doubt. My drug of choice are opiates. Actually only opiates.

i won't take anything but opiates. So I need advice because I can't get methadone or suboxone.

I've  been taking pain killers since '03 and I'm up to 4 100mg ms contins per day.

I was thinking that my son doesn't know me. I mean he's with me everyday but I mean the real me... The sober me. I'm trying to detox cold turkey off of the dang things because I want my son to know the real me and I hate anything having such control over me.I would appreciate any advice on how to make detox a lite more bearable and also how long it may last. I'm good the first day and the second I'm usually OK other than sweating but day three comes and I'm on my butt and can't get out of bed because I'm depressed lethargic have zero interests in anything and the restless legs suck. Thank u in advance.

You can detox yourself without getting medical help. It will be a pain in the ass, but you can do it.
Probably the best thing is to detox under medical supervision through a drug detox unit at a hospital or clinic.
As far as staying drug-free goes, I strongly recommend you starting going to NA meetings.
NA saved my life and gave me my life back. It can do the same for you.

Going it alone is tough for sure.
I second what Dave said about rehab for detox, but if you can't do that then you can't.
First, you gotta realize that there will be pain and other forms of discomfort.
BUT....this is a good thing. Many an addict has not relapsed because they were smart enough
to remember the pain of withdrawl.
After that different people try different things.
Stay well hydrated...that means drink plenty of water. Try and force yourself to get up and move around,
take a walk. Breath deep. Meditate. Pray.
Most importantly....Go to a meeting...Right now.
Share what you are going through. You may be surprised how people will come forward
when an addict is in pain.
Good luck to you man,
let us know how you'r doing.

Hello Aubrey,,Welcome to MIP! I am an addict named Mike

It seems you have approached the 1st Step of the program of NA...WE admitted we were powerless over our addiction and our lives have become unmanageable. Here is where WE can begin to get off the downbound train and do 'whatever' it takes to get and remain clean of drugs..WE do suggest making a meeting ,listening to learn and getting into what we call the Solution, the application of our STEPS into all areas of our lives. As stated here you can medically detox(highly suggested) or cold turkey if that is your only option but remember you only have to do it once. The program will help you understand that our addiction is deep seated and it is an illness of body, mind and spirit and the work we do addresses all those areas. WE are not doctors here or do not give medical advice but if help is needed it is part of whatever we need to do to get clean...Yes there will be pain but it will get better a day at a time as your system cleans out, there is nothing wrong with pain medication but our bodies do not know the difference with "using" or taking as prescribed....that comes with the work..Let us know how you are doing,,,Here is the link to our website where you can read up on all info pamphlets, recovery using pain medication and What is our program.....www.na.org......In support and prayer..

yawn  You can detox on your own , but be ready for a painful experience for a few days , like going to hell and back .You should also try NA meetings for the support you will need to keep on the right track. Try 90 meetings in 90 days that gets your mind on the right track. You can just go and listen or share if you need to .I listened for almost a whole month before I shared .I got 8 years plus clean ,it is a miracle. yawn

I am in the middle of detoxing from an OxyContin Habit, I tapered down to 80mg a day and stopped cold turkey. What I found has helped for sure is hydrating, Gatorade, Imodium, a good vitamin, and 5-htp, and magnesium for the restless legs, these are all vitamins or supplements found at the pharmacy. I am on day 4 and doing ok, not great but ok :)

hello all...... First off I would like to say thank you all for the advice and support from you all

It is greatly appreciated. Secondly I apologize for not responding before now. I honestly have just been praying and listening to music on my mp3 player to keep my mind busy. I have been trying to walk or anything to move thinking it'll get my metabolism going and help burn the junk out. I can't even stand. Not because I'm lazy but because as soon as I stand I vomit. I have been drinking g water and gatorade . I have been afraid to eat I've had one banana in the last two or three days. I'm afraid to eat because of the diarrhea the vomiting.  I have taken a few unisoms to help me sleep to no avail so I stopped. They made me drowsy buy I couldn't get comfortable. Can someone please help me understand why eating and hydration is so important. Also yesterday I went in the restroom to urinate and I ,for some strange reason, passed out or something. All I know is I was standing there  and the next I came to on the ground with a big purple bruise on my forehead bleeding. My wife wanted to either call a ambulance or take me to the er but I refused because I didn't want them to give me any pain meds. Is this normal or could it be from not eating? I'm still pushing through but it is hard. Reading everything you all have written and the support means more than you all can ever know and I thank you all so much. I have never been face to face with you guys but you all are some of the most important people in my life right now . I thank you all so much for going on this journey with . even though you don't know me personally you help me and that just shows what wonderful kind people you truly are. The pic is of where I hit my head yesterday. It looks.much better than yesterday but its still bad. Its a horrible pic but it'll show what happened. Idk why but this pic doesn't do it justice Cuz its much more purple than it appears in my pic. I'll  try much harder to keep y'all in the loop and again many thanks.

Hang in there! It's been decades since I cold turkeyed H but still can remember the week of HELL vividly. Eat? Hell no way could I keep anything down not even water. Puking green stomach bile for a couple days so much fun. Every fiber of my body freezing from the inside out. But it passed and I survived. 32 years Clean by the Grace of God through the Power or NA.

Keep Coming Back!
