Comming off methadone, only 4 days in and struggling....

Hello katelyn and WELCOME TO MIP!

So awesome to see how WE do it, Shrugged29 just recently dropped in and already reaching out in a loving and caring manner with her own ESH(experience ,strength and HOPE!!)WE in Narcotics Anonymous have a simple program for complicated people.WE share our ESH on  what has worked for us and the "solution" we have found in the program(THE STEPS)  and the fellowship.I have a  27 YR son,the same MO as you ,hard core heroin addict  for 8 long devastating years ,now working his own process of recovery into his fourth year, visiting with us in Florida from New York.He also struggles with severe OCD.manic depression and anti-social behaviors, has been in jails ,institutions, years of deriliction and litterally died from anaphalactic shock during his using period. One thing WE have in NA is a true message of HOPE and a promise of freedom from active addiction. Its not a magic bullet, takes time and work but eventually can lead US to a life better than WE have ever known, based on my own evidence of 25 years caught in the grip/ WE always suggest making a meeting, listening to learn and really learning to listen(was tough for this ole hardhead)In the meantime until you decide if you are willing to do whatever it takes to find recovery ,a day at a time, check out WWW.NA.ORG,where you can find all of our literature which talks about our program, recovery and relapse and more...Keep coming back okay let us know how its going.....smile

I've been abusing heroin for more then 8yrs, im 25 so most of my years to grow ive wasted away by chasing the high. i thought going t othe methadone clinic would help but basically it made things worse. I've hit my rock bottom and just can't find the energy to do it anymore, i'm over being a person i'm not and i want my life back but it's so hard to get back to the swing of things. I live with my parents who really dont understand addiction and why i chose to do what ive done, and i dont have the answer which makes them mad. I find it hard for support at home because i'm constantly reminded of all that i've done wrong which makes me feel horrible about myself and i feel like i can never truely recover successfully. i'm scared and i don't want to relaps again.... please some words of encouragment...

I am new here and new to na so idk if its the right thing to say but its hard. Its going to be physically, psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually draining. Its different for everyone but every day it will get better until one day weeks or months from now you will look back and feel proud at what you have been able to accomplish. You can do it.

Welcome to MIPS! Staying Clean ain't necessarily easy but it's simple - don't pick up no matter what! I got Clean for the last time about your age, I was 26. Just this past Monday by the Grace of my Higher Power whom I choose to call God through the Power of NA I celebrated 32 years worth of One Day At a Times Clean. I'd tried many Many MANY ways but nothing worked for long. Until I surrendered to the precepts of NA. Start by going to 90 NA Meetings in 90 days. Miracles happen in the rooms of NA.

Keep coming back!

NA makes one promise "...Any addict can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new way of life"
This promise has come true for many thousands of "hopeless" drug addicts and it be true for you.
It starts with going to meetings, finding a sponsor, reading NA literature, doing some service work, being open minded about
a higher power, and working the steps.
If you are truly sick and tired of being sick and tired, then you are ready to begin.
