Yes i found the same. I heard about some in Alexandria but they are not listed anywhere. I've been treated at home after 18 years of hard core drugs, and i'm not accepting it like i'm supposed to be, my life is empty and i totally forgot how to be a normal human. Some of my friends told me that such meetings will help me go through this phase and i really want to try it, because i don't want to go back to this dark place, even though i miss it so much, it's the only thing that makes me be me, i guess.

Niahl,
I think it's very important that you try and reach out.
Believe me, I fully understand what it feels like to be so hopelessly addicted
to drugs that you don't feel like yourself unless you are using.
You are in a dark place, but there is hope for you.
countless thousands of others have found a new way of life and so can you.
I urge you to call the helpline info number in Cairo.
Tell them where you live and ask if they can help.
It may surprise you, but Alexandria is a big city and I'm sure there are
addicts in recovery from that area. The challenge for you is to find them
and reach out to them.
I know you may feel that you don't have the energy, or are fearful of what
kind of reception you may get. There are no guarantees.
But if you want to live in the light, then you must make the effort.
Prayers for your health and well being.

Thanks guys, this was really helpful. I did find a meeting in Alexandria finally and hoping to go tonight and check it out. It's my first, i have no idea what to expect, but i'm open to anything now.

Nihal sounds so much like an Indian name.... are you?

Ok...heres an experience id like to share with you.
Look, not having enough NA meetings in newer areas, so as to be in one everyday
is a recurring theme.
The way I coped was to do how many ever NA meetings there was in my area and nearby ones.
And in addition to that i also read NA literature and went to AA meetings.
Then there was also the treatment centers I visited as an individual recovering addict.

That, and sharing in forums like this, taking phone numbers of members in the group
you are about visit and keeping in touch with them on a daily basis is sure to sustain
recovery..

Actually it's a Turkish name but i'm Egyptian living in Alexandria by the sea. My experience is quite different than all of you. I confessed to my mom after 18 years that i need help (i know it's pethetic) and because of my family's social standard i can't go to mettings or hospitals . I got a doctor at home and he gave me medications that i'm taking till now, he was basically a phsycatrist helping me to forget and start a new life. i have no way to meet with ather ex addicts like myself. I quit only one month ago, and i feel it's nothing compared to what i'm seeing in the forum, i get weak sometimes , actually most of the times, but i'm holding my ground till now. I will use this forum and the chatroom to get in touch with people and hope this will give me the strengh to stay clean.
