Hi! My name is abe and Im a recovering addict. I am glad you're doing better. I understand somewhat of what you may be going through. I hav emajor issues of loneliness, fear of abandonment, and introversion. I moved to a 3rd world country recently to engage my fiance but she actually just broke it off yesterday. I have no friends and family here. I live in a small dorm room. But I just started a great and high paying job this week. For more details, you can check out my posts right here:

Anyways I hear you. Its tough, but we must, we must move on, we must share with others, we must be strong, and we must NOT PICK UP no matter what. I am proud of you that you haev begun to go out. My mother is majorly agoraphobic and I know how hard it is for her to make friends and just plainly leave the house. You are very very brave for taking that first step. Anyways please continue to share here. I come on this forum everyday and write, I write emails to other addicts. I get the support I need right here because the availability of meetings is extremely hard to come by here. But also go to meetings as well if you can. Anyways I hope my words have helped and I apologize if I misunderstood you in any way. Good luck dear!

hi Manon...
addiction and depression have been co-existing disorders for many us; me for sure.
The bad news for me was that i was, and am still sometimes depressed.
The good news was that i wasnt bi-polar but dysthemic; whereas bi-polar needs medicating, dysthemia
can be resolved with talk therapy, healthy habits and sharing with recovering addicts.

Simply stated, when the addiction was in full swing, i was obssesed with using and then with getting and using kore.
And when that stopped and recovery was begun, the dominant emotion in my life was depression.

And i believe that just like addiction existed long before i eever used, the depression was there too.
My early experience of depression came from being around my mother or her family.

I acknowledge that my mothers side is "addict". My grandfather, two uncles, two cousins and my very own
brother died directly because of alcohol use.
Im no different from them, and by the grace of God have been spared the Final Destination due to overdose.

And by God, I dont have to deal with drug use anymore but have to face recovery everyday.
And this includes fighting or addressing depression in various forms, whenever it re-emerges.

I thank God im an informed addict..........
