Where to begin

I am a long time closet user of MMJ. I have attempted to quit hundreds of times. It had a tight grip on me. I am 50 years old. I can't quit. I know you know what I'm talking about. I need a mentor or someone to share with? I used to be a Pastor and am in a back sliding state. I need help! Where do I begin

Welcome to MIP!

You have made a 1st step, admitting your powerless over your using and your life is unmanageable and are reaching out for suggestions and help.

First of all, there is a reason you are on MMJ and that is something you and your doctor should be discussing. We are not doctors and always believe something that is medically prescribed is taken seriously.

WE do have a program called Narcotics Anonymous and you can GOOGLE our site NA.ORG(Narcotics Anonymous) and read all about our program. Who is an addict,What is the NA program,Why are we here,How it works,What can I do and all of our other readings that formulate our program. We also have on that site IN TIMES OF ILLNESS, information about addicts taking medications and bulletin #29 on methadone use in NA etc.very helpful reading. We always suggest making a meeting, listening to whats going on and getting some #'s and talking with other recovering addicts.Like previously said though,if you are on medical marihuana maintenance there is a medical reason to be discussed with medical people. You can also use that same site to find a meeting place where you live.Let us know how you are doing.WE are here for each other....Blessings of this daysmile

Marijuana was my drug of choice but I did a lot of other drugs too. It definitely had a grip on me. I vowed to quit or cut back dozens of times, but I never could until I starting going to NA meetings. Admitting you have a problem is a good beginning. For years, I would tell myself that smoking pot was not a big deal because it wasn't a hard drug like heroin. But the fact was I was stoned all day, every day. That is not a good way to be. That is not a way to live. By going to meetings, I found other people with similar experiences who could provide me with help and hope. Welcome to MIP. I hope you get to a meeting soon.

We begin our paths of recovery by going to meetings and asking for help. Together we CAN recover...

Yep,
Meetings is where it all begins.
Introduce yourself, and ask for help.
We addicts love it when that happens, and people will respond.
It doesn't matter what, or how much you used...
only what you want to do about your problem and how we can help.
Keep coming back.

I know in the end marijuana was the hardest to quit,I did not think of it as a drug.
