The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.
The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.
As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up..
He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.
After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.
He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally....I assumed you had stolen the car."
Hi my name is Mike, I'm grateful Recovering Addict Clean another day by the Grace of a God of my understanding through the Power of Narcotics Anonymous.
Angell, I understood fully and enjoyed the discourse on your earlier post discussing God. But I failed to see the purpose of this joke post other than to ruffle feathers of believers. Personally the joke didn't bother me. And there are some pretty funny Buddhist jokes out there too!
Who among us is not hypocritical at one time or another? As our NA Literature says we strive for growth and being the best we can be not perfection. We, or at least I, did not arrive at the doors NA a "perfected being" in any belief system! And working on 32 years in daily Recovery I most certainly am no closer to being perfect today. Oh most certainly a much better Human Being today, yet knowing even more today of how much further I have to go.
May we strive to respect each others differences as well as our similarties in our shared Journey of Recovery.
Edit: Now I see your apology Angell, typed while I was typing!

Please accept my apology Manon, I did not seek to offend anyone. I had hoped that my Christian brothers and sisters would simply see someone acting in a non-Christian manner and getting it pointed out to them in a poignant way....not unlike the way my sponsor points out when my behavior is not very recovery based.
Sorry folks, I found the piece on another site - actually, this boards twin for AA posted by a believer. There were no negative posts about it and it was well recieved and so I thought I would share something which would bring a smile to others faces. I failed to be as sensitive as I might have been but there was no malice intent.

It comes down to perceptions. If you posted a joke about Buddhism after proclaiming you're a Buddhist quite sure there would have been no harm no foul called. OR if you had proclaimed yourself a Christian and post this same joke again no harm no foul. The difference? Seems acceptable to poke at yourself and your beliefs and your shortcomings, but not others and their beliefs and their shortcomings. It takes much greater growth, understanding, humility and enlightenment to accept as acceptable either scenario, to accept truth regardless the source. Because while taken as offensive by some, there was a great message of truth in the joke. Change the bumper stickers symbolisms etc. to those of about any Religious Sect and the message remains the same, truth is truth. And I now believe I perceive your purpose in posting it, which was not to ruffle feathers. MY apologies for stating as such.

someone had to say it... a reminder that honesty is the best policy...will keep us far from trouble! !!! but then...all that said and done, the moral of the story is,,,,,

Come on folks, let's lighten up a little. This was pretty harmless stuff in my opinion. Are we so self righteous that we can't see the humour in that post? When we were tying off our arms getting ready for the needle, or burning our lips on the crack pipe..would little jests matter to us at all? I have no problem with the joke. I have no problem with the responses. i have a big problem with people being afraid to express themselves and stop posting with no intent to harm because some may take offense. The only way never to offend anyone is to never say or do anything.
