Prescription meds

So does being clean mean you aren't using any type of prescription med, in my case Xanax, or is ok to use it if you are responsible with it?   I mean if the doctor prescribes it and sometimes you need it....then it should be ok.  I think it's when you abuse it...use it more than prescribed or mixing it with other drugs, or....hell I don't know.....best to just not need to take it..right?  I think I may be trying to pardon myself....denial?

I believe that many of us have outside issues, for which we need professional help. Addicts are not experts on these issues, and we generally do not have opinions on such.

I take seroquil as prescribed and it has been very helpful for me. Why would I stop taking it if it helps? If you feel you aren't 'normal' unless you stop taking something a doctor recommends, then I would say you should discuss such feelings with an expert. We will welcone you irregardless of your decision!

You will get more answers to you questions if you go to some in person meetings and talk to people. The problem with prescription meds is that as an addict I will tend to abuse them to get high. Just because a doctor prescribed it doesn't mean its okay. However, some people do have medical problems and need to take medication. So, it is complicated. It is important to be honest with yourself and with your sponsor (a person you can meet in an NA meeting who can help you stay clean). I'm glad you are posting on this site, but to get more help I really suggest you get to some in person meetings.

This sure is a major issue in my own life , the answer for me is clear and it is-i know in my heart and behavior  rather or not i am abusing it. Its clear to me that I will have to live with medication in my life , in which means to me I have to put in extra time in my recovery to make sure this monster, whom i must live with, remains tamed.

Avid is right.
If your concerned about your status as an addict will mess with your script, you should tell your DR of your concerns. And talk to a fellow addict. That way you can get the medical advice we cant and the recovery knowledge that your DR may not be able to give.
