New :)

My name is January.  I am 32 and live in New Jersey.  Getting ready to attend my first meeting.   I am scared out of my mind, nervous, excited and happy.  I read through some of the posts and am excited to post here.   I am an addict- 2nd time around.  It has been a three month relapse after 3 years of being clean.  Cannot believe I got myself this situation--- ughhhh.  So unwise on my part.   I didn't go through NA the first time, did it on my own and obviously this time I am doing it right.   I will let you all know how it goes.   :)

Welcome. This program works--if you work it. To stay clean the NA way, it is important to attend meetings regularly (a meeting a day is recommending in early recovery), get a sponsor, work the steps with your sponsor, fellowship with other NA members, stop hanging out with your old using buddies, get involved in NA, service work, prayer and meditation, and don't use no matter what. Keep coming back!

So I am back today, yay for me :) Planning on attending another meeting tonight. Last night was obviously a little awkward, everyone seemed to know everyone. But it was helpful, the room was crowded and I could see how many people are actually affected by this disease. I'm hoping to have a good day. At work, starting to feel the effects of withdraw... always fun. But I'm here and I haven't used yet. It counts. Have a great day Dave and thanks !

when you go to your meetings it important to introduce yourself for your first 30 meetings that way the other members get to know you. and show up a little bit early and hang out and drink coffee with the other members and in no time you wont feel like an awkward new comer and you also get the best recovery when you dont alienate. also introducing yourself reminds you why your there it gets easier....glad you are here....WELCOME!

keep going back and get support, we all need help and if you dont ask your only hurting yourself still.

Theres a reason we all used the way we used, get to the core, clean house, find out whats going on inside and what needs to change, after 5 years clean I still have house cleaning to do because I still want to use, so I know theres something unsettled inside of me.

Keep comin back January
