At the advice of my grand-sponsor and sponsor I wrote a letter, signed it and dropped it off.
Last weekend my fellowship helped me refine my amends to strip out all rationalization, excuses, blaming, bargaining and requests for acceptable responses.
What was left was an arms-down admission of wrongs with an offer to take action to make things better between us as people.
It is a complicated situation, and it's not over. But now I have a clear conscience about my wreckage, having done my part to clean up and let go of the past. I can't bind my happiness or self-worth to the opinion or actions of another. This is a milestone day in my recovery and I wanted to share it here.
