So Thanksgiving wasn't as bad as I expected. That's usually the way it goes. Thank God for NA. I had my escape plan in place and used it! :)
My husband and I brought a meeting into the jail on Thanksgiving night. It was so spiritual... the guys in the jail had some serious GRATITUDE! It rocked! The guys are getting out soon and are staying local, so we're praying they find their way to us on the outside!
Went black friday shopping and got lost in the masses. I'm one of those that likes to take up aisle space, hugging other long-lost addicts (saw a lot of them home for the holidays) in the middle of aisles, grabbed a few gifts on sale and bolted.
Hubby went hunting this weekend... and I'm secretly thankful he didn't come home with a deer. That could have gotten really messy...
Got to come to my sponsor's rescue on Saturday. Her daughter from Oregon was driving her back home from Alexandria (about 2.5 hours north of me) and was too stressed to drive any further (she's not used to the winds out on the prairie). I went out and got my sponsor and had her spend the night before bringing her the last hour home. It was a rockin good time AND I got to meet her daughter! :)
I put up my Christmas tree with some mixed feelings. I don't consider myself Christian anymore, but I still enjoy the tree. Sorry folks, Jesus isn't the only reason for the season around my house. It's all about the light in the darkness for me. This time of year, when all the trees are bare, the landscape is brown, and the clouds are grey, it is a burst of sunshine for me. Don't get me wrong, Jesus was a cool dude, but I'm finding new reasons to celebrate. :)
Thanks for the prayers over the holiday! Hope yours was as grateful as mine!
