A shot to stop measles, the flu, Chicken Pox, HPV, Hepatitis B, Tetanusand drug addiction?
Twenty-five years of intensive research and over 200 million dollars in clinical studies later, Dr. Kim Janda is slightly closer to having a vaccine to curb drug addiction.
Although its uncertain if or when a vaccine will be a viable option for addicts, Janda, a professor at the Scripps Research Institute, has made considerable breakthroughs in helping people stay clean off illicit drugs. This July, Dr. Jandas lab announced that it produced a vaccine that dulled the effects of heroin on rats. Rodents given the vaccine didnt get high from heroin, so they stopped using the drug, in contrast to the rats that helped themselves to heroin after experiencing its pain-deadening effects.
Thanks for posting I removed a few of your other threads since other articles you posted can be read at the same site, such as aritcle on opiate addiction and senior drug abuse so thanks for your understanding and the site.
Always looking for the easier softer way. Waste of research money IMO, spend it on real life threatening disease research for which there is nothing that works. You know like cancers, alzheimers etc.
Of course the article fully admits what attempting to do does nothing to address the disease of addiction and further admit the possibility/likelyhood an addict will simply switch to a different drug or take more of the drug the vaccine is targeted to suppress increasing potential for over dose.
NA WORKS if you work it, plan and simple. 31 years proof of the pudding later this month...

A vaccine wouldn't work for me, as it could not help with the behaviors that lead me to addiction. So I would still be the same chaotic, crazy addictive person I was, only without using. No thanks, I think I'll stick to what has been proven to work, as seen in many, many people worldwide. As Mike M says, NA works if you work it. Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth. Peace

Hello POOFY and welcome.......may be able to give you something for your addiction,a cure ???(subs/methadone already etc) but gonna take daily work on the spiritual and mental part of this monster to stay in the pocket..........Plus can't give back what was freely given to me unless I OPEN UP A PHARMACY :) lET US KNOW HOW "YOU' are doing okay!! peace.
