WENT TO THE CHAT ROOMS BUT IT IS BLANK, DOWNLOADED WHAT IS SAID TO DOWNLOAD AND NOTHING HAPPENED ANYONE ELSE HAVE A PROBLEM, NOT HAVING MUCH LUCK ON THIS SITE AT ALL, DID MAKE A NEW FRIEND WHO KEEPS IN TOUCH WITH ME FROM ANOTHER NA SITE, ANYONE OUT THERE??
Hi Kelly, This is where I was led when I googled online meetings a few months ago. What I have found is that there are no active meetings here, nor is there anyone in the chat rooms. The message board(this forum) is where I communicate with others in the cyber NA world. I have gotten lots of great ESH from those who are on here regularly. Maybe Avid will see your posts, I think he knows of a site that has active online meetings. As for me, I have found that face to face meetings work best, when I can hear the voices and see the body language that goes along with the shares. And the hugs, I love the hugs. At first I was so totally against f2f meetings. I sat in my first interview with my outpatient counselor and distinctly told her that there was NO WAY I was ever going to one of those meetings. Now I try to go daily, I chair a meeting, and I am part of a Womens Step Study group. This fellowship and support is a huge part of my recovery and my success. I know you said that there are only a couple of NA meetings a week in your area, but daily AA meetings. Perhaps a mix of the two??? For me, I have a foot in both programs, as I have problems that pertain to both programs. In regards to your husband, and the share on your previous post that he too has a problem with addiction, all the more reason for you to focus on you and what you want and need in your life. He probably is very threatened by your attempt to be sober, it may just lead him to a place he does not want to go. There is a saying that we are only as sick as our secrets. If you try to hide the fact that you are trying to stay sober and working a 12 step program, I fear it may not work. That's a pretty big secret to have to try to keep, and in my humble opinion, you should not have to. (Only my opinion, take it for what it's worth) Don't give up on this site just yet, we need you as much as you need us. Hope to see you back soon. Peace
Hi Kelly. Yes, our meetings/chat never took off. there are places where you can chat with other addicts in recovery. this one has been around a while http://earthgroupna.org/ Personally i prefer the message board format. I find that no matter what the stated purpose of a chat room is they always end up being 'hi how are you" fine how are you" went to the zoo today. 'cool' saw a zebra and a monkey" wow!!! LOL i love zebra monkeys" and like that.... on line meetings are something i have a bit of an attitude about... but I 'll spare you my judgemental crap and wish you well as your explore recovery.
We USED to have some pretty darn good meetings now and then, it was a lot of trouble for me to get other people interested in running the meetings due to the complicated software involved, matter of fact it was quite a chore for me to get it all working on my computer when Manon trained me and its been almost impossible for me to do it with another, so we gave it up.
As mentioned there are other boards and skype to try out i just recently got skype going and one day i will check out the skype meetings and give an update or Raman may know, hey raman i sent you a skype invite to your email BTW :)
