I have been on Monster .Com for about last 6 months and also Deerfield and Lauderdale Job sites searching for employment as we are packing up,leaving New York and moving to Florida in july 2012(bout 8 months).I have managed a workshop for People With Disabilities for over 32 years up here, and seeking work similar in Broward County but has been hard to find ,Not sure if there are similar workshops in the Florida area.I also may just change gears and look for a Music Store to work in (sell drumsticks) definitely seek a working band needs a drummer and maybe addiction counselling.(if not there is always Social Security and I'll find something to do.Also am a Veteran,so have health coverage and burial perks so that is an added bonus...Through faith and a striving for a closer contact with my Higher Power,who I call God, I am starting to surrender all the anxieties of "change"Through God's grace (and mercy) I was allowed ot make the biggest change in my life by making my 1st admission and total surrender a few cups of coffee ago from the devastation of 25 years of active drug addiction,so future change will also be guided by God's grace ,Im sure.My darling ,is ready to leave "RIGHT NOW" she is an administrative secretary at my same place of employment.Her faith is tremendously comforting and "we ' know we have gone thru over 30 years of storms together and aint stopping now..Through my own process of working spiritual principles and more so of application in my lives I am reaching even more areas of surrender.I have found many good meetings in Deerfield during our last 5 years of travelling down for vacation,little different than up here in New York,only an hour, but wonderful WorldWide message of recovery thru Narcotics Anonymous.Recovery by the Pier, right on ocean at Deerfield Beach,now how cool is that..Anyway,welcome newcomers and those who continue to show up,do the work and give back.Strive today to be all that God intended you to be and help somebody.More will definitely be revealed.......

Rock it out, man. My best job ever was making just above minimum wage at a music store (repairing, cleaning, and selling band instruments). Sure wish my addiction didn't burn that bridge or I'd be back there in an instant! (of course teaching lessons on the side to supplement the income)

Upbeat, spiritual message as usual Mike. I too was involved in sheltered workshops as a vocational rehabilitation counsellor for about 20 years. New York, seems to have a pretty robust MH/MRDD network that Florida doesn't come close to matching. I'm a couple hours north of you, but it would be fun to day a day trip and make a meeting together. Something to look forward to.
