na phone meetings

Never heard of one but that doesn't mean they don't exist somewhere.
I am an old fashioned sort about meetings.
Face to face is the way to go.
isolation is such a huge part of our disease. The availability of internet meetings
makes it possible for people to get some benefit of recovery without confronting some basic fears.
Of course there are those who are severelly handicapped or live in rural areas with no meetings,
and for them these meetings are the only game in town, so to speak, but for most of us,
summoning the will to walk into a room full of people and say out loud "My name is ...and I am an addict"
is a powerful act that begins our journey in recovery.

Thanks for the input....I also agree that face-to-face meetings are the most beneficial. I'm a grandma trying to get my grandchild to 90 in 90 and it's taking its toll on my own live meetings that I attend. Actually found the websight for online meetings and will suppliment the face-to-face. Growth through recovery is the only way to live

Most definitely agree with face to face meetings but for those who are not as fortunate as we are to get meetings when they need one or want one its sounds like a positive and helpful way to assist our fellow members biggrin

we have teleconference meetings every day several times a day...all groups state that these enhancments are NOT a replacement to f2f meetings

we are not getting any younger folks.... these meetings are geared towards those who are unable to attend f2f regularly...health issues, drivers, isolated folks...if you know someone with these issues...why not tell them about an extention of Jimmy Kinnon's vision. yes his daughter and Bo S have both told me that Jimmy spoke of using the phone...and if you knew or heard stories of JK, you will know that he would spend hours upon hours on the phone with addicts all over. Just look into his phone bills folks.

as of right now i am not with the schedule so call and I will get you plugged in.

YOU can always keep up with the phone meeting list in your time zone by going to http://naphone.org/schedule.html The main page of that site also shows you the links to whichever time zone you need. Finally, they're starting to make the "at a glance" type calendar so you can synch it to your smartphone device. NAByPhone.com is the new site showing all the meetings and so much more...historical sites and speakers from the past and present.

Teleconference meetings are not a substitute for a F2F meeting...they are a suppliment to. most important...it is for those geographically challenged to NA meetings or unable to attend regularly due to health reasons.

If one can attend F2F meetings, by all means go early, go often, have fun.

However, If you know someone living with illness that keeps them from meetings....let them know we are here.

Mostly remember: WE ARE NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER!
