Welcome. Glad you're here. This forum is an online source for recovering addicts but is no substitute for going to NA meetings in real time with real people. Have you gone to any NA meetings yet? You will find much experience, strength, and hope there. Keep coming back!

Hi Cheri,

I'm new to this forum as well, just joined maybe a week ago. Like you I have an opiate addiction that began with vicodin and moved on to oxycontin for the last 10 years. It only gets worse, the addiction, as time marches on and before you know it you can't fuction without it...its a vicious circle to nowhere that steals your inner joy!

I have just gone through a week of hell, getting off the opiates, this is the first step but have yet to attend an NA meeting. This Im told is the most importatant thing in my recovery. So next week I will attend a meeting no matter what! I hope you will follow in getting clean and attending meetings to stay clean! If ever you need to "talk" you know where to find me!  Paula...
