Hi, my name is Chris and I'm a 35 year old male addict seeking a sponsor in the Sacramento, Fair Oaks, and Folsom areas. I desperately need a sponsor to begin working the 12 steps and am ready to commit/submit to this process. Please know that I am an atheist, however, I was raised Catholic and I am open to and accepting of all religions. I agree with Dave. Announcing on the internet that you need a sponsor is a risky proposition. Much better to go to live meetings and listen to people share. Watch and listen to people before and after meetings. When you find someone you think you can trust then ask them to sponsor you. Sponsorship is a corner stone of this fellowship. Most would be happy to work with you.
Hi Chris and Welcome ,I am also ditto on reaching out in a meeting for a sponsor.Forums such as MIP are great additions to our process but nothing replaces Face TO Face communication........AND AS WE ARE A SPIRITUAL,NOT RELIGIOUS PROGRAM YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT ANY RELIGIOUS PROGRAM.You are free to choose any concept of a Higher Power,only loving and caring,greater than you that helps keep you clean a day at a time..It is wonderful that you are ready to get into "our solution" the steps worked with a sponsor,im excited for you and know if you remain honest ,open minded and willing you will start to see the effects of spiritual "awarenesses" that will help you change your attitudes and behaviors and find a new way to live free from active addition.It is our promise......Keep coming back okay........
