Hey Liz! I know for me I had to keep my mind occupied to refocus on other things when I was stuck. I remember when I first got Tinnitus,1986(a loud whistling in my left ear from loud sounds drums/shotguns)I had to find something to take my mind off the noise(a whistling teapot at the boil in my head, never stops)or I thought I would go insane. The fear of the noise and maybe going to both sides of my hearing made it even worse if I would concentrate on it...It is still as loud today as it was in 1986 but I have used different techniques to refocus,I sleep with a sound machine and try to stay out of places that are totally quiet(there is never any quiet for me)When I meditate I work hard to focus around the noise and am able to put it aside. It was the same with withdrawals and finding a new way to live without drugs, everyone I hung with and things I did had to be addressed in a new light. Each day we work thru the "noise"(withdrawal/life on life's terms/pain,relationships etc) we reenforce a positive experience of getting through ,a day at a time and become ready to approach another day if so blessed.Stay strong this minute, next hour, next 24 and tomorrow ,if granted, can become a "new dawning" a NOW day(no opportunity wasted)day..definitely in prayer and support, glad to see you reaching out,we can't get help if we don't let others no where we are at! peace and serenity!!

One day at a time Liz. You can do it. Got phone numbers? Do you call people? prayer, prayer, and more prayer. meditate if you can....it really is a skill worth acquiring. If you can move around a little, some physical activity. Prayers for you. You can do it. Just remember each day of pain brings you one day closer to freedom.
