Hey Don! I do meditate but not as often as I wish I did, but I pray without ceasing from morning till night, before I get out of bed and before I fall to sleep(sometimes not as diligent at night).I usually try and find a quiet spot ask the God of my understanding to help me seek His will. When I get sidetracked(mind drifts) I pray through the spirit of God to intercede for me.(personal faith beliefs)I try and picture my hands outstretched and reaching for contact..I at times also listen to 'NEW AGE' music(Tangerine Dream,Phillip Glass etc) helps relax me.Theres is a calming effect that takes place when I am in tune....I have very loud Tinnitus(a very high like "teapot boiling whistle" in my head) from years of drumming and shooting shotguns, sometimes gets distracting.Have had since 1986 and for a year or so thought I would loose my mind.God has allowed me to endure the "noise"as His grace is always sufficient.Listening is so key to calming the "noise" in our lives, keep it on me......anyway..We just arrived last night in Deerfield Beach,,after an emergency stop in Jacksonville for a passenger who went into Diabetic Shock and we had to land.He seemed okay.......peace my brother!!!

I do meditate each day, I wish I could spend more time on this. My sponsor at that time, after step work asked me to spend 20 minutes each day in Silence. This corrosponds to lines in the Basic text that suggest "allowing the thoughts that arise die a natural death".
Ever since then, Ive been doing that. The only problem Ive had is not spending that much time in Meditation. So now a days, Im Meditating on why Im not wanting to Meditate through the 20 minutes, even knowing how great the benefits are.
There are times however when Ive sat in Meditation for upto nearly 3 hours. In India, and where I live, there are many places dedicated to Meditation and when Im there I can easily get the drift.
It's the solo that difficult, I just suppose thats a major reservation that I have.
That said, I had a good time Meditation this day,, greatful that I can cope with thoughts of having lived a wasted life !!

I sit in a chair, close my eyes and focus on the sensation of breathing. I allow my mind to become still.
Any thoughts that come up I observe that as "thinking" and let them go.
I have set timers before to spend 20 minutes doing this but now find I can sense when it's been "enough."
I treasure this ritual and its benefits. When I'm in normal daily life sometimes I have a need to center myself or otherwise get control of my emotional state. With practice I can "go there" pretty quickly.
