Must be a God thing!

Today is my 90 day mark. As a gift, God seems to have sent me my first sponsee! I got a phone call this morning from a newcomer I'd approached at Monday night's meeting. For some reason, out of a list of 20-something women, she called me this morning, when on day 5 of no drugs or alcohol, she was struggling. I had her come over, made fresh coffee, and we spent a couple of hours chatting and sharing stories etc. Together, we both stayed clean and sober for 2 hours, and she left, asking me if I would be her sponsor. What a nerve-wracking thing! She's been through the program a few times before, whereas, this is my first trip (and hopefully, only trip). I don't know what she sees in me, but I feel grateful. It must mean I'm growing in the program, and that brings me much peace inside. Just wanted to share my small moment of joy for the day!

Yes, giving back is important to our recovery.
What did your sponsor say when you told her?
thanks for sharing.

My sponsor waited for me to say it was a God thing. Then laughed. She said that whether I think I'm ready to sponsor someone or not, this woman was drawn to me for a reason, and she was proud of me for how I handled it. Then she gave me step work for myself. lol

been a good day all around.

it's the heartbeat of NA,, one addict helping another.
Ive always thought being asked to sponsor someone is a previlege that Id never refuse, and at least would do it temporarily.

Hugs and congrats on the 90 day mark.....

Wonderful, the therapeutic value of one addict helping another......stay close with your sponsor also,Congratulations on 90 days, truly a blessing..Lead the way by applying the spiritual principles of our program guided by the God of your understanding in your actions, deeds and words...You may take some heat from others who have ideas about guidelines for sponsorship(time concerns, step work etc) dont worry about it,follow your heart ,continue working and  remember all of it is meaningless(12th step) unless you LIVE IT!!"more will be revealed.........Thanks for sharing with us..smilei CAN FEEL YOUR EXCITEMENT AND ENTHUSIASM.COOL...

That's fantastic! 90 days clean... I remember that one vividly. What a milestone!

One thing I've had to remember is that it's okay to say "I don't know," to sponsees, then refer them to my sponsor. There are things my sponsees have gone through (dealing with kids) that I've never gone through. All I can do is share MY experience, strength, and hope. No more, no less. When I get stuck, I call my sponsor.

Keep workin it! It's worth it!

Congratulations on 90 days clean! At 90 days clean I was not far along enough in my recovery to sponsor anyone. I don't think I sponsored anyone until I had over a year clean. Hope it works for you!
