I was just curious.......I'm from TN and we have an ever growing problem with people overdosing on Methadone. In my opinion, when someone overdoses from a substance that someone has given them and they die, the person who sold or gave them the substance should be charged with manslaughter. These teens that are out here looking for drugs and get ahold of methadone don't understand how strong of a medication their dealing with, they take it thinking it will do them like a pain pill and they end up dead. It's a sad situation, a mother that had lost her teenage son in Knoxville due to his neighbors giving him methadone has filed a law suit against them and the methadone clinic. I was in a clinic for almost 2yrs and it made me higher than any pill I had ever took, my addiction got worse on the methadone. With my experience it didn't help me at all, it hurt me more in the long run. Do you have a problem with it in your state? What is your opinion on the clinics?
Methadone is a drug. Ours is a program of abstinance from all mind or mood altering drugs. Where they come from is irrelevant. There is a line in one of our meeting readings that says "We are not interested in what or how much you used, who your connections were, how much or how little you have, but only in what you want to do about your problem and how we can help." As you are seeing in your town, this is life and death. The only promise that NA makes is that "any addict can stop using drugs and lose the desire to use" It's a miracle to see people come in the rooms dope sick and miserable, and then gradually over time watch them transform back into human beings with joy and purpose in thier life. Keep coming back. It works.
