I am 20 year old college student who just so happened to be at party last night that was busted up by the cops in Fairhope, AL. I was charged and taken to jail. I blew a .38 which I don't understand because I looked that up and with my weight 150 lbs, and height 5'11 I should have been dead by then, but I was really walking fine and have been drunk a lot worse than I was last night, and that's what I don't understand. . . I was taken to jail and I spent the night there until my parents came to get me this morning. This is the first time I have ever been arrested for anything in my life. I'm not sure what is going to happen to me but i have court August 17th. All of my friends and people I know have been telling me not to get a lawyer because this is a Class C misdemeanor which is not as serious because it was beer and not pot or anything Has anyone else been in this type of situation and could give me ANY advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I am scared to go to court, and I am stressed about coming up with money for court fines and such. Most importantly, I DO NOT EVER want to SERVE ANYMORE TIME IN JAIL.
Ashley: This is a forum for recovery from drug addiction through the 12 steps of the NA program. We do not give legal advice here. If you are interested in doing something about a drug problem (if you think you have one), then we can help. We consider alcohol to be a drug. A socially approved drug, but a drug nonetheless.
I could only suggest you take a deep look inside and see what your drug use(alcohol) is bringing you to. Jail, unmanageability in your life and believe me from experience I can only tell you without seeking help "now" for the events coming up in your young life,it only gets worse. Any arrest can be serious regardless what the drug is,arrests are the beginning signs of powerlessness and a downward spiral. This is a Narcotics Anonymous forum for people who suffer from addiction, physical, mental and spiritual illness. We start helping ourselves by 1st putting down the substance....Let us know how it goes, I would also suggest getting to a meeting and see what they are about.Keep an open mind and look deep. Thanks for sharing here with us,I can definitely identify and will lift you up in prayer..C'mon in from the storm, before it gets too big!!

Hi Ashley and welcome. From your post it seems like getting drunk....reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllly drunk is something you do fairly often. this is a problem....but only you can say if you have a drinking problem. I zeroed in on your first comment.....One does not "just so happen to be at a party" that gets so out of hand the cops are called. One CHOOSES to be at or to stay at such a party.
why not go online and google "Am i an alcoholic" a number of sites will come up that have self assesment questionaires to help you decide if you are....
Or, you can just stop drinking....Can't get busted for something you don't do.
