later on it was Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison,,,
then many more followed those illustrious ones into the junkie/addict graveland,
Micheal was a prize catch (Jackson o' course)
and many more are destinied to follow into druggie/junkie/addict grave-hall of fame.... without having had a chance to recover !

Probably Amy baby too,,,,,

but we do recover................many will do rehab as many are doing now,,
The example of addict- musicians could inspire many more musicians to do the same!

And to quote an early instance of recovery from all that madness; this is Jeremy Spencer esq.
This gent,as yall may know, was the original guitarist of the famous band Fleetwood Mac.
They were very successful, primarily because they had a new sound in British rock, as is heard in their early albums.

Then the became world famous and with the big money came big drugs, girls and madness.............
Then our man Jeremy decided to jump ship in 1974, at the peak.
He disappeared in LA after a concert, never to play with them again.
He said he'd had enough and wanted a clean life.
It is said he went o many NA meetings in LA and got the message but later went Born Again...

It was great thrill and a lifetime thing to hear it from his own mouth when I met him in Bangalore in 2001.
He was touring with his band, and asked me to join them and so I got to tour with him for some months......

This man is now living in Brazil, ashe has been for many years and is very active in social work....
A fine example indeed of how a drugcrazed musician can transform into near saintlike...

That said, Jeremy was preceede many years before by the ultimate saxophonist,,,,
ladies and gentlemen,, of course ,,, JOHN COLTRTANE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
( way before NA was attractive 'nuff for all kinds of addicts)
