I'm New

Hello all.  I am Kim, 34 years old from Lehighton, PA.  I have been clean for a little over 30 days and going absolutely insane!  I'm working the steps but damn this is stressful.  I am looking to meet new people ....hopefully close to me being there is NO meetings in my area except for AA.

Welcome to the board and congratualtions on 30 days clean.

I remember what it was like, squirel in a cage head. I made myself get busy I joined a gym and made a commitment to go and ended up becoming very obsessed with that for about 6 years, I still go but not like I used to.

Hang out at meetings, meet people and find a sponsor.Go to the AA meetings anyhow thats a 12 step program and the 12 steps ARE THE PROGRAM just replace alcohol with drugs and there you go , may have to make sure the meetings are open and not just for alcoholics , they may not want you to share on your drug addiction some are still that way .

To shut my head up I had to pray alot, A LOT and I still do that I also take a little magnesiam to quiet my head and my anxiety and that works.

If somethings bothering you find others you can share with and talk over your troubles, the meetings are talk therapy and for sharing experience strength and hope but i also so new people should listen more then they talk so they can get to know the program and how its working in the licves of others . Theres a lot to learn and relearn, this program helps us learn how to live without the use of mind altering chemicals and that takes time so be very very patient , theres no rush or hurry.

And get the NA book and start reading thats pretty important and thats what I did when I came to NA 5 years ago, I really related to the literature.

Welcome and congrats on 30 days. When I got clean (a few years ago) there were very few NA meetings in my area, so I went to a lot of AA meetings. Try to go as many meetings as you can. Hopefully, you'll be able to find some NA ones.

Hi Kim,
Welcome to MIP. this is a tight knit little group of recovering addicts.
I went to NA.org and entered your city and state.
Your right, there are no meetings in your immediate area,
but i expanded the search to 20 miles and came up with about 10.
Hopefully you can get to at least a couple of these, introduce yourself as new and ask for help.
You will get phone numbers, CALL THEM....this is the start of a support group. You are not alone,
but your' going to have to put in a bit of effort.

Hi Kim and welcome! Congrats on 30 days! That's awesome!! I was 34 when I first came to recovery as well..Just celebrated 11 years on June 10th..one day at a time. I always pass what was suggested to me..go to meetings, get a sponsor, read the book and work the steps and be thoroughly honest in all of them =)

Hi, Welcome. You are or I should say that we are in the right place. I have been in and out for over 20 years now and still haven't got it. Don't feel bad, it is O.K. Every time I go back out there is only one thing that I learn every time, and that is that it is the same ole ----, every day. Nothing ever changes accept the people and the  quality of the drugs.

The program is awesome. The people are very friendly and we can even have fun sober. My problem that I have to work on is accepting the fact that it is O.k. to not be O.k. with myself. This time and I say that because I have tbeen through tx. 10-123 times. I thought I was ready than and now I will be starting #14 on an outpatient basis. This time I am treating the chemical side with the mental side and hoping that I will find some answers to some questions that I have about why I do some of the things I do. One day at a time, that is all we have for today. God Bless You
