I was asked to help a woman find and buy a car, so I went on craigslist, and knowing she didn't have much money, and I'd probably have to help out with some money, I put in a low maximum price. Several came up, but they all needed alot of work. I kept going through the sale ads, and suddenly one ad stuck out. I called this woman and asked if she would be willing to consider taking half the money now and the other half later, she said she would consider it. I made arrangements to go see the car.
This car was way out in the country, about a 2 hour drive from my home. The woman who was looking for a car was with me as we drove through some of the most beautiful country roads.
We got to this woman's house, the car was in the drive way. It was a perfect looking car, besides needing two back tires, the car was really nice looking. The woman who owned it tried to pass the key to me, and I indicated that the woman who was getting it should be the one to start it first. She smiled and handed the key to the woman with me. She sat in the car for a moment, just amazed and repeatedly said, "Oh God, I can't believe this"...
The lady selling the car and I smiled at each other, we both indicated with eye contact that something big was happening inside the woman that was getting the car. Suddenly the tears started to flow. We didn't interupt her sobs, but stood there and let them run their course. When she stopped crying, she started to look at the interior of the car, playing with the window buttons, the radio nob, ect. The woman selling the car, simply said, "those things do work better, if the key is in the ignition and turned to the on position". All three of us laughed.
The woman selling the car had agreed to accept half the money then and the other half later, so while the buyer was sitting in it, touching, turning, rubbing, adjusting everything in it, I stepped to the side with the seller to give her the money. Half of what she was asking. I handed it to her. She looked at me, and then back at the car and asked if I would step inside for a moment. We went inside, she pulled out the title for the car, signed it, and said, "You paid for this car long before you got here, I want you to take it, not pay anymore for it, and give it to this lady free and clear". She handed me the title. I asked her if she could really afford to do this, being a single mother of 4 children. Her reply was "I can't afford not to do it".
We went back outside and the buyer was sitting in the car, crying so hard, hands over her face. I handed the title back to the seller and asked her to give it to the buyer and let her know what she had told me. She took it, and spoke the buyers name, then when she looked up she said, "I want you to have this car, I don't want you to pay anything more for it than what was brought today". More tears flowed, even the seller was starting to tear up.
Trying to make light of things, and get past the emotional part of the situation I suggested the buyer take it for a drive, and maybe we could find a few used tires to put on it before heading back home. The seller directed us to a tire store in the area. We got there, and they had two relative new tires, in excellent condition. I asked the price for each of them, the man looked at me, then looked at the buyer and said, "I don't know why I'm doing this but I usually get 40.00 each for such good tires, but I want to sell them to you for 15.00 each, mounted, balanced and installed." His wife who was standind behind him, had a very puzzled look on her face. "Wow, now there is something to write home about, Bud letting go of a tire without getting top dollar for it", she said and smiled.
So, we drive out of there, with a car thats kelly blue book value is 1200, and so far it has cost less then 300.00.
As we head back to the sellers house to pick up the car we got there in, the buyer says, "This is Gods car, why He is giving it to me I don't know, but I want to do something good with it". I assured her that if it was a God car, He would use it for something good, with her behind the wheel. We got back to the sellers house, I got into my car and we headed back to Wilmington. We got here about 2 hours later. Came into the house and as usual, I sat in front of my computer to find a message from a woman I know from the rooms. I messaged her back. She immediately replied that a friend of hers was in trouble, in the hood, begging for help, and she was 400 miles away, would I please go get this woman and help her get through the first few days, until she could get here and figure out what to do for her friend. I agreed to go. I felt like my HP was contacting me through one of His many angels, who was 400 miles away, using facebook as the means of communication.
I asked the woman who had just gotten the car if she would come with me, and she said "of course". Then she asked, "can we take my new car?" I agreed.
The woman got behind the wheel, put it in reverse and the first time it was backed out of the driveway it was on its way to do a God job. I said a simple prayer and looked at this woman driving and I said,
God gave you this car and tonight He is already putting you to work in it.
She smiled with a few tears silently running down her face, "let's go get this woman and help her with whatever she needs".
The first time this woman drove her car after getting it here was to go get another woman from a horrid situation, and I got to witness three miracles unfold in front of me in the process. I got so much more than the woman who got the car or the woman that got rescued. I got to see God in action.
I started to cry before even getting to the miracles of Gods work, only because I knew thats where the story was going to go! How awesome that God seen for you to have been a part of it! That just made my day..thank you so much for sharing =)
