Hello Everybody. As of yesterday, I have 6 months clean and sober. I have mostly just done it by being on this message board and reading literature and the NA Books. I have been to about 5 or 6 in person meetings. I don't have a sponsor yet so i have not formally worked the steps yet. I do have a higher power. Can I still take a 6 month chip at the next meeting i can get to ? I guess i am wondering because I have 6 months clean and sober, but not 6 months going to in person meetings, having a sponsor and formally working the steps with a sponsor.
Congrats on 6 months Clean! Of course you've earned your chip.
That said not Using is simple: don't use. On the other hand Recovering from the disease of addiction, learning to live life on life's terms day in and day out, finding peace and serenity, maintaining Clean time day after day ~ week after week ~ month after month ~ year after year ~ decade after decade takes takes work.

Congratulations Carolyn! Truly a miracle ,any day clean for an addict. Absolutely get your 6 month key tag and let the others know that the program works and by you continuing to show up, you are carrying the message.(clean time is personal, you and God know about your time )Many people do not get sponsors or work steps early on, remember these are all suggestions, but the true benefit of our program is following the suggestions to get a sponsor, our goal is not mere abstinence, but recovery through our 12 steps and giving back to the best of our ability Blue in our area(6 month tag),let BB KING SING THE BLUES SO YOU DONT HAVE TO /THE COLOR OF OUR BASIC TEXT!!! :) Keep working ,a day at a time, remain guided by your Higher Power and more will definitely be revealed...!

Sure, pick up a chip. In NA, we say "6 months clean" because we don't treat alcohol differently. A drug is a drug. As for not going to many in-person, not having a sponsor, and not working the steps, I would not recommend this. I get tremendous experience, strenght and hope from people at the NA meetings, my sponsor, and other recovering addicts. I could not do this if it were just me, a computer, books, and my HP.
