Interesting Scenario!

Think I mentioned awhile ago ,my son,(24) recovering heroin addicted since 17,is on 5 years probation for crime and drug related issues as of July oF 2010.In August of that year ,he relapsed, committed another robbery with his girlfriend and did a stint of going to court etc. We were not aware for months this occurred.Longstory short, he said he knew someone who knew probation office and DA and he beat the charge with only paying restitution and not getting violated through probation. Of course we could not understand why he wasnt in jail and especially not being violated by his Pro officer, who said he would keep it buried for as long as he could(took a liking to Eric)(system is crazy!!) Anyway probation officers boss sees this in file and says something has to be done about this. So Eric's Pro officer offered a rehab instead of going back and doing more time. The amazing part of this story is he has been doing really well, going to a daily program, living on his own with his girlfriend in their own apartment,,getting ready to attend a year school, ,he is a wizard at computers(Ridley Lowe )through a grant from the school and a loan he will have to pay back, been clean (although his clean consists of 135 mg's of juice(methadone) a day, not my idea of clean ,but we are responsible for our own recoveries) So he is gone on a 28 day   bid to Rehab again (RC WARD IN New York TO SATISFY PROBATION. )How many lives does a cat have?..We again had no idea of this ,he arranged all insurance situations, made the calls ,got the info talked with social services,DA, probation etc..and was going to tell us day he left (2 days ago)caught wind thru a 3rd party and we found out.(personal responsibility or shades of from Eric?)Only thing wife and I could both say was "you are responsible for the consequences of your actions, make the best of it, thank your Higher Power for even having a "choice"and find the learning point in this situation. We have been involved for the last 7 years either from afar or in the mix and we have totally surrendered our anxieties and powerlessness to our Higher Power .2 years ago I know Eric would have taken jail, been done with probation and not bothered working a program..We actually are not ecstatic over the situation and it is really none of our business, even though he is our son,, but we feel that inappropriate behaviors not accompanied by proper consequences teach nothing. We will visit him on his birthday april 25th in a program instead of Jail.He will be back just in time to start school may 7th I believe,The road is long, with many a winding turn(a favorite song of mine)and so true...It took me over 25 years to "totally surrender" ...."our message is hope and our promise is freedom from active addiction>We pray Eric's next move is to detox from the juice and to find a program that will keep him moving forward ,in his God's grace,a day at a time, He knows there is a solution and only his choice will get him to it..Thanks for letting me take part in my own recovery once again and sharing from my heart and knowing that I am never alone(NA)     PEACE.........smile

Gods will be done sure seems like he's gotten many breaks but then, so did I. My last robbery god spoke to me and said " Thats it pal, you wont get away with another" I haven't done another heeding those words and eventually got clean later down the road but I saw my grace over and over.

So he better RECOGNIZE whats really going on here.
