I found this online.. a place that helps addicts withdraw from pills and such

This is just a sharing of knowledge. It was an accidental find. So many times I see posters share about the agony of withdrawing from pills, benzos, valums, oxycodens, and all the others.
Anyways, here it is:

http://www.pointofreturn.org/benzodiazepine_withdrawal.html

I havnt used them. Nor have I called them. I just found it to be proof how much this world of ours is changing their attitudes towards we the addict by giving we the addict help in the withdrawal part of our addictions.

ok then... I only hope this helps a suffering addict during one part of their recovery.

I understand your desire to help, but they specifically mention that their program is NOT for addicts but rather for those who "innocently" became addicted....Click on the "programs" button....

Breaking the dependence to Benzodiazepines, Sleeping Pills or Antidepressants doesn't need to be frightening or expensive. Unlike traditional treatment centers that are costly and focus on addicts, our clients are people who innocently became dependent on medications.

do you know someone who 'innocently' became addicted to drugs?
I don't.

To me this is just another money maker that preys on addicts in denial.

The impression I get from that website is that they minimize the severity of chemical dependency, and target people who are "dependent" that don't want to be labeled as "addict" or "addicted".  Their goal is to make money by selling a PLAN to taper off chemicals.

In my opinion, if someone has a chemical dependency issue (addiction) to a medication prescribed by a doctor, then the proper course of action is to advise the doctor and not some website trying to minimize the problem and rip you off.

Chemical dependency is addiction.  If someone is "chemically dependent", then they are an addict.  Its very sad how they soften the problem by manipulating words.

if you think I should delete this, let me know. i dont want to hurt this site in any way shape or form.

EDIT:
to answer 'do i know anyone who innocently became addicted to drugs'. yes. matter of fact i do.
1) 12 yr old boy . on his birthday, his dad called him into the room, and said close ur eyes, and hold out ur hands. Next thing this kid knew, his owm father was cramming a rig into his arm, and shot him up with heroin. as the kid relives his story, he tells us felt like body was coming and going at same time. he was terrified. he also recalls his dad laughin in other room while his dads friend tried to help the kid as he heaved ovr toilet. 2nd time, a monthish later, daddy dearest told him to go to his room.. his addicted father had a male adult waiting in there. daddy turned his 12 yr old boy out ... and once again forced a rig in the kids arm. it went on from there for years. i met this kid when he was 21. Hes dead now. he was a boy interupted. an innocent imo

I agrre with you on that. I've been on hydrocodone for the ast two years because of a neck injury. I tell all my doctors that I am a recovering addict, so they know. I just had surgery and had to come down off some pretty heavy naroctics. If you let your doctors know, I believe it keeps you honest and thats what its all about.
