About the whole "God"thing....

I have believed that there is a"God" all my life, yet despite my many efforts I could not find him within myself. I have come to think, there must be some defect in me, I just can't seem to find what some other people have. When I have attended church or tried to read the bible or other religious texts it never seemed to work for me. Yet over the last few months especially, I found myself praying to "God" to please help me, as I had been trying and trying and trying to help myself and I could not.  Lately my sleep has sucked (to say the least) and last night, at o'dark thirty, I woke up with the song "Day by Day" from Godspell in my head. Godspell has always been one of my favorite musicals. I had a friend in high school who was in theater, and she was in it. Our gang of friends all went to see it, and it has stuck with me ever since, although I cannot tell you when I last thought anything about it. In the song "Day by Day" there are words that start out "three things I pray" I could hear them, but couldn't quite remember them exactly. So I went to you tube(oh, the wonders of modern technology smile.gif ) to look up the song. The three things prayed for are to "see thee more clearly, love thee more nearly, follow thee more dearly. Day by day."  I now realize that my "God" doesn't have to be your God, nor does yours have to be mine. And that's ok. My "God" has led me to recovery. He has answered my prayers. Now I have to work with him/her/it daily. I can do that. Day by day. Thanks for listening to my ramblings and Peace.

Hey Nezyb!Great literature from other writings ask us one question"Do we now believe ,or even willing to believe in a power greater than ourselves, and that Power only need be loving and caring and greater than you .As soon as a person can say that they do believe or even willing to believe,we emphatically assure them that they are on there way .It has been repeatedly proven ,that this simple cornerstone is a wonderful effective spiritual structure to build on .The blessing of our 2nd step is you are free to form your own concept of the God of your understanding as a process and not necessarily an event, and that process may change through time..awesome!!!!!smile.

The Basic Text also adds,,,
Many of us believe God to be the Force that keeps us clean.
I like to add Serene too.

When Im clean Im serene.
The mopment I lose my Serenity, i know Im movin away from God and towards eo and manipulation, so I try and get back to God.

After all's been said and done, Ive come to believe that EGO= Edging God Out...

Im doin the same in a particular situatrion thats full of confusion and conradiction.
In fact, Im hopin that soon Ill hear the song
"Im Begining to see the Light"

I love the song "Day by Day" and it has helped me deepen my connection with a higher power.

For me there's a big difference between dogmatic religions and spirituality. I don't believe it was by accident but rather devine guidance that NA is a spiritual based program allowing each to develop their own understanding and relationship with a Higher Power of their understanding.
