I completely understand this one!
please keep doing what you know you need to do! and remember!

Sometimes, we have to seperate ourselves from that family that causes that in us.
It doesnt have to be forever, and they may see it as you blaming them(mine did)
But its not about them, its ab YOU. You have to be selfish in that way in recovery.

If you cant do that, call your sponsor each adn every time you have to be in that situation. and certainly before you ever feel like you are going to use!
Im not saying you will....but history has shown us, that if you put yourself in a weak spot too many time, and if for one moment you slack off on your program however slightly...relapse is a strong possibilty!

keep posting, talk about it. it helps:)

I wish now that I had the strength to just keep my ditance if ever I felt I just couldnt be around any of them.

God Grant Me The Serenity To Accept The Things I cannot Change, The Power To Change The Things I Can, And The Wisdom To Know The Difference. Do what you need for you to stay clean and in recovery...like get to a meeting, get to a meeting, get to a meeting, get to a meeting!

This board is a great tool in my recovery. For me, I would have driven 700 miles if that's what it took for my next fix. And for me, I have to be willing to go to any lengths to stay Clean. If it gets bad enough or rather before it gets that bad might consider a road trip.

After all this time. Coming up on 4 years Clean One Day at A Time is truly a miracle for any addict. Yet for me I must always remember my disease of addiction is with me regardless the amount of Clean time. My disease never goes away. If I'm not diligent in my program my disease is just waiting to try and take me down. For me, nothing can replace the power found within the rooms of live NA Meetings. Tuesday night at my Home Group the air was almost electric with the power from 25 or so recoverying addicts. My skin tingled as the love, caring and sharing of all us addicts together empathizing, practicing and learning the principles which make life with out using not only possible but so much better, joyous at times even. From the two people with one day clean returning from relapses, the woman who was going to celebrate 10 years later this week, to myself and Robin with 58 years Clean between us my Higher Power, the God of my understanding, channeled his strength into our hope.

I'm really not trying to sound like I'm preaching. I sometimes just get emotional about what this program has done for me the past 30 years of One Day at A Times. And for me the meetings are the cornerstone, whether just 2 of us or 2000 addicts seeking recovery together in a room, magic happens.  Special recovery magic I've found nowhere else but live NA meetings.
