A moment of reflection!

This morning,we bury a friend I have worked with for over 30 years and I spend time in reflection knowing that life is a precious gift, given by the grace and mercy of our Higher Power and that we who share the common illness of addiction are truly blessed to even one more day as the only thing we really earned was probably an early coffin,I'll keep it on me.......its what I earned.!!!!...My friend managed a Volunteer Program and many of the men from our Substance Abuse House worked in this program with Neil!( we just celebrated 2 days ago clean time for 3 of these men)Each and everyone of them have expressed there love for his caring and loving manner and how he had helped them along the way,a true testament to "how we live our lives" and not just talk the talk!!Neil and I shared a special bond musically and professionally and I will remember him with joy in my heart. We strive through our program,Narcotics Anonymous,to practice spiritual principles in all our affairs and to remain God centered and give back.Well Neil certainly "walked the walk and though not part of our fellowship,it does show that living a God centered life(Neil shared the views of Atheism)and reaching out to help your 'brother and sister " in need and carrying in his demeanor the presence of "hope' is truly a gift and a blessing from God..A big 'Dead fan" I'm sure Neil would be humming "what a long strange trip its been"Happy Trails to you(Neil,my friend) ,until we meet again!!!!Have a blessed and productive day!!smile
