Hi, my brother is a recovering addict who is just about to be released - maxed out/no parole or other stipulations - from prison after serving roughly 4 years. Our mother and our father are each offering their homes as a temporary residence for him. Neither household, however, is "clean and sober", as there is recreational consumption of alcohol and pot daily at both places. Does anybody have advice or feedback regarding the viability of these options versus others such as: halfway-houses, apartments or rooms to rent, or his idea to just camp out in the state forrest or at the beach for a couple of weeks to enjoy the solitude and "decompress". Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks!

I know you are scared for your brother but what does he want ????? We can't impose our will on others it just might blow up in your face. All you can do is support him to do what's best for him and it sounds like you know what that is. Ultimately he will do what he want's to do. I pray that he too can make the right decision.......
