I wanted to share something with you guys and gals. I've always despised religious groups for their preaching, so I'm kinda worried about what I'm saying here... However, spirituality, for me, is not religion - it's a way of life, not just somewhere to be on Sunday mornings (and please, I'm not knocking anyone who lives that way, but it just doesn't work for me).
Anywho, this song was originally written as a prayer by Leonard Cohen (also wrote/performed "Hallelujah"). It's been covered by several artists, including Jann Arden (Canadian) and The Webb Sisters... This particular video, is the latter, because that's all I could find this morning, though I prefer Jann's version. This song, just speaks to me... it's a reminder that although I have my choices in life, I am living my life for me and the god of my understanding.
And here are the lyrics... Just close your eyes and listen with your ears and your spirit... gives me chills...
If it be your will That I speak no more And my voice be still As it was before I will speak no more I shall abide until I am spoken for If it be your will If it be your will That a voice be true From this broken hill I will sing to you From this broken hill All your praises they shall ring If it be your will To let me sing From this broken hill All your praises they shall ring If it be your will To let me sing
If it be your will If there is a choice Let the rivers fill Let the hills rejoice Let your mercy spill On all these burning hearts in hell If it be your will To make us well
And draw us near And bind us tight All your children here In their rags of light In our rags of light All dressed to kill And end this night If it be your will
