Dont believe the lie " once an addict

always an addict, we do recover, there are enough of us here to prove that and even IF there was just one of us who have recovered its doable.

And if you fall/slip/relapse get your ass back up, dont wait and use another day just start over and look at what happened and why it may have happened.

It's true sometimes we're not ready , we haven't hit that humblying place yet, that place of desperation where we can get  absolutely honest with ourselves, where we're willing to go to any length and go thru anything and stay clean,  open minded enough to listen and try to work the steps with a sponsor and go to meetings, get into service and trust our higher power, we're a stubborn people full of selfish pride and ego centric self centered cry baby's LOL...

Stop blaming, stop finding and making excuses, stop procrastinating and being lazy this takes work, tough suck it up like the rest of us had to aww its worth every ounce of effort you put into it, TRUST ME wink

Thanks for posting this Vin I am surrounded by relapsing friends at the moment and it's so hard to watch especially when they are finding it hard to put it down and leave it down. I guess they just have to get that desparation back before they can get serious about recovery again.....

We can't feel the Power greater than us if we aren't in a physical meeting...i feel soo sorry for the addicts who want to change but are chair bound or out in the boonies trying to not use, because the theraputic value of one addict helping another is so profound, that is the beauty. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate these sites for a reminder and for a change but until you get and stay around recovering people (physically, mentally and spiritually), its got to be sooo much tougher to really "get it" .....Too many addicts go back to their old friends out of rehab or jail, they have to give NA a shot if they don't want to use one day at a time....There is something there for us if we want it

Gotta disagree with u, peachz---my Higher Power, which I found through these steps, is not dependant on physical meetings-and I would be in big trouble if the power greater than ourselves were boxed in and limited to certain settings. Working the steps generates the "feeling" of that power, and I know I absolutely CAN feel it outside of a physical meeting.

It's nice that you "appreciate" sites like this, but for most of us, I suspect that they are not in any way just a "reminder".  In fact, they may be sustaining the core of our recovery by supporting our taking (and living) the 12 steps as they are intended.

Your comment about feeling sorry for those of us who may use a wheelchair ("chair bound") or live in geographically isolated areas, or maybe serving on a ship at sea, or in a foreign country with no meetings, and depend on sites like this, is kinda rude. Please do not presume that it is "sooo much tougher to really "get it". That could be misinterpreted as condescension, and come across as a message of discouragement for a newcomer who may not be able-for whatever reason-to get to live meetings.

The quality of one's sobriety/clean time/recovery-whatever you want to call it--is never determined by the setting. It is determined by practicing these principles in all our affairs. And believe me, there are PLENTY of people who can be found in live meetings that don't "get it".
