God could do for me,what I could not do for myself!

I share this each year as a reminder of where I came from, where I went and where I am now....A very cold December 2nd morning,1984,I "came to' at a farmhouse in Rhinebeck New york,it was early sunday morning.I was 6 months into my 3rd marriage and the insanity was not expecting different results from my actions but now knowing what the results would be.There was no doubt in my mind that I could go on to jails ,institutions, deriliction or death or find a new way to live.As I raised my head from the floor, cried out for mercy and totally surrendered ,I was beaten and by the God of my understanding's grace and mercy I was able to make, what I consider my last choice at life or death. Through God's grace, the spiritual principles of our program Narcotics Anonymous ,continued effort ,a day at a time, to do the work I celebrate 26 years of uninterrupted freedom from drug addiction.(I continue to show up daily to work spiritual and mental part of our disease!)I share this with the newcomer as I keep what I have by giving it away and celebrate in your "new life' as even with one day clean you can carry the message that an addict, any addict can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use and find a new way to live!Thank all here and in my blessed support group who allow me to continue to share in my own recovery each and every day.To God I give the glory, to Mike I give the work!!!!!!!Peace my friends! We do recover, the message is hope and the promise is FREEDOM!!!smile
