holiday blues

The holidays are nearing and the blues are following every yearI seem to go thru this I get depressed and my anxiety gets woese knowing I have to be around the family I distryoed at one point theyare willing for me to come back in to thier homes and want me to be a part of I have always felt like I am walking on eggshells when I am around the entire familt the best part tho is seeing my niece and nephew "Lady Bug" and "Wiggle Worm" those are the nick name I gave them me and wiggle worm have a dance that goes with it and they love thier Aunnt Nonnie as I do them there is nothing greater than a childs laughter.
Several years I have spent the holidays in the hospital I can tell I am depressed by what I am not doing for my hhygiene and other things that just don't seem to matter
Good news tho instead of having to wait till feb to meet my new doctor I see my newest shrink the 29th of this month which does lesson the anxiety of not having one; Although the trust thing comes into factor again due to my previous issues but I will stay open minded and remenber that this is hte doc that my shrink thinks would best suit me
just thought Iwould share what is in my head

remember its stressful for most people not just you, even normys get stress during the holidays.

GO enjoy your family, have fun, laugh, eat, talk, be losse and care free, be yourself , me I am a child I play with my niece and tease her and we fight she's almost 4 and she's becoming my buddy LOL. Spend time with these people we're all here for such a short time...

Everyone can have difficulties during the holiday season.

What helps me is going to meetings, working the steps, prayer and meditation, fellowship with other people in recovery, and service work.

The NA program works if you work it.

I'm not a fan of the holidays either. It brings back alot of painful memories.
But I try and make the best of it.
They pass.
Find the joy.

WHAT RULE SAYS YOU HAVE TO BE WITH FAMILY - WOULD BE NICE - IF IT'S SAFE EMOTIONALLY - BUT IF NOT - I PRETTY SURE ALL FAMILY WANTS IS YOU TO BE OK - ONE OF THE TIMES I FIRST CLEANED UP - I SPENT IT WITH THE FELLOWSHIP AND CALLED MY FAMILY AND TOLD THEM I LOVED THEM..SO I GOT TO PRACTICE HOLIDAYS AND BEING CLEAN AND IN PRETTY GOOD HEAD SPACE..IT'S TRULY OK NOT TO HAVE TO DO ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT TO..BUT IF YOU CHOOSE TO - THEN CHOOSE TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR EMOTIONALLY STATE WHILE THERE..NA TALKS ABOUT PERSONALLY RESPONSIBILITY - THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT OUR WELLBEING - TAKE CARE OF YOUR SELF..HAPPY HOLIDAYS

want me

Unless you really don't want to go, sounds like you are welcome and wanted.

When that happens we often try to spoil it for ourselves by indulging in the old wounds, shame, guilt, resentments, fear. It can be hard to just go, take things at face value, and accept the fact that we really are wanted and welcome. And have a good time---what a concept!!
