Trying to find a sponsor

I just moved from California to Michigan and am setting myself up in the meetings in my area. so far so good. Except that I am having a very difficult time finding a sponsor. In the 4 years that I have been in the rooms I have nearly always had a sponsor. Until now. It is weird not working a step and I know that I need to find a sponsor soon. I just dont even know where to start. No one is even catching my eye at meetings. Anyone have any advice for me. It would be much appreciated! Thank You!

A couple of questions. How long have you been in the Michigan area? How many different meetings are you making? I would suggest that you ask around to the members that are in the meetings, who is a good sponsor ( in their opinion). Then go and start talking to some of the people they suggest. It may take a little time for you to be comfortable enough in the new meetings to really start hearing the person whom your HP is trying to send to you. First thing First, reach out to others with help and receiving help and I would think your HP wil send the right person to you.

Go to a lot of different meetings. Get some phone numbers and call people. Hang out with people before and after meetings. You'll eventually find someone you're comfortable with.

Having a sponsor is important, but not all sponsors are right for us.
Take your time, listen and talk to potential sponsors before and after meetings. I think that will give you a good sense of who you can best relate to.

Thank You everyone. I am making as many meetings a meeting as gas will allow. There are a lot less meetings in the MI area that I am in then what was in the CA area that I was in. I know that my Higher Power has a plan for me. It is just frustrating when things dont happen in MY time. LOL. Self will never does work for me. Where I lived before I had been going to meetings in the same area for years. So I knew people and people knew me. I know that with time this will all work out for me. I appreciate the support from you guys and the suggestions. i will take them all into consideration.

Take your time - "When the student is ready the teacher will appear"  You have a lot going for you - you are clean today - you get the part about going to meetings.  When I moved from one area to another - I stayed in contact with my previous sponsor, I stayed connected with the ones I left and created new friends.. Remember sponsors are guides to help us work steps..and if you have been guided you can use what you have till you get one - Hope that helps
