Morning all! As I was on my knees this morning at my house of worship we were listening to the message of the time 1776 when our country claimed its independence from King George and the tyranny that was ravaging our land.We as a nation signed a declaration of Independence and chose to fight for our unalienable rights. The dictionary uses a lot of different descriptions of the word"independence" but I like these the best ,liberation, freedom from, release, set free. I think back to years ago(and yet at times like it was yesterday)how I claimed independence(through God's grace) from active drug addiction. Andhow only through God's grace and mercy am I trying to claim independence from all my stuff, shortcomings, character defects etc,a life long process.I mostly was reminded though, that in all my endeavors I must claim 'dependence" on the God of my understanding by taking the action on decsions I make daily and let Him take care of the results.I would like to extend my prayers, thoughts and wishes for each one of us here and to those just showing up, for a safe and happy Independence Day! Practicing spiritual princles we learn through the living of the Narcotics Anonymous program and sharing our love with each other can stem some of the "Conflicts"(Just for Todays message)that will occur in life.Live each day as it may be your last(for years while caught in the grip was really a high probability)Today, though all may not be well,I will put my trust and faith in the God of my understanding, celebrating Independece Day while depending on that Higher Power! Have a blessed and productive day
