I think losing our recovery is as much a frame of mind as anything else. Of course one must be vigilant regarding denial, but if you, your sponsor, and your support group don't think you've relapsed then taking meds as prescribed is just that....taking medicine, as opposed to using. It can be a fine line for sure, but that's why we look into our hearts and have sponsors we trust.
Hey Rocky! Its important you take care of yourself and your health.Make sure you check our service pamphlet'In times of Illness also.If you dont have a copy you can Google it.It will reenforce our situation with prescribed meds and how we approach it..We will definitely keep you in prayer and remember the Master Surgeon Is always there!

Rocky,A balloon angioplasty is done under mild sedation in a cath-lab.i am a person who has visited the cath-lab many times having hagd heart disease for 15 years.I am on my third pacemaker defribilator and have had a quad bypass 15 years ago.But still it is important to remember we are addicts.
i'm not your mormal person in that i have had an upper aortic anureism repair and a mechanical vavle put in already i know how most people get it done i wish iwas one of them my doc says they are going to try to go with the angio but he thinks that it will turn into open heart because of my other conditions i just have to start feeding that demon of and addict that is me and i go to where i left off when i stopped using witch is about enough to kill horses and circus elephants i am probably going over board but this really scarres me and i don't get scarred easy thaks for your post and your prayers and i now have my add ocd and all my ddds under control and will let god have it thanks guys

hey Rocky...most good docs and good hospitals these days are decently trained and experienced in pain management for recovering addicts/alcoholics....just make sure they know that you are one and that they get all the info from you needed to help you through it post surgery...some hospitals even have structured, written, recovery plans for this purpose, which involves sponsors and other significant people who can be of support us in the post-op recovery, regarding the proper use of pain meds. AND TO DEAL WITH YOUR not unreasonable FEARS AND PROJECTIONS. Best wishes!!
