Saturday morning(22nd) ,in Poughkeepsie New York,the community is having a 'WalkwayOver The Hudson' celebration for addicts in recovery.It is a 1st of its kind and it entails members of Narcotics Anonymous,Alcoholics Anonymous and others in recovery celebrating their lives in recovery...There will be agencies for the DUTCHESS COUNTY CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY CLINIC,LEXINGTON CENTER FOR RECOVERING ADDICTS,detox HOPITALS AND RECOVERY BASED PROGRAMS.I have spoken with my sponsor and my grandsponsor and we came to agree that is will be based on attraction rather than promotion and that our anonymity and traditions will remain intact as we cross the bridge in celebration of life and recovery and carry the message of hope!The walkway is an old railroad bridge that burnt years ago and was dormat for a very long time. Last year it was repaved and a walkway was made for use of the public.My running club had an innagural 5K race over the bridge,Thousands of people have used the walkway and it is a great boon to our community.I'll let you know how it goes Saturday.
