I needed to remind myself,, musically.

These tracks were recorded long time ago,, about 5 years ago and now I promise you Implaying a better sax.

I remember how my sponosr had said
" Look no matter how far you go in clean time youre still powerless and no matter how hard you try, life can still become unmanageable.
However, take heart in the knowledge that though powerlessness over addiction dosent change, we still can do something about the unmanageability and the insanity when it comes up again".

And to me that meant walking the walk, and yes indeed,, walking the NA 12 Step way.

Last nite I had the Grace to share an idea with a kid and his family.
I walked in there at 7 and began playing.
The kids at a far off table were interested in what was happening and one mom was pointing.
I played Old-Mac form them and had em singing along.
Then one kid, all of three or four, i think was so interested he got his mom along and asked me to play a tune.

Then I take out a harmonica and ask hm to blow and the kid was joyous,, later on he was blowing four five notes at a stretch.

This kid was earlier being cajoled and talked to by his father to calm down and not be restless and hurt himself; now playing music seemed to be a thing for him to do to overcome that restlessness and feel thngs above the mundane.

Our 12 Steps revealed that I was a very restless kid too and all I was being told was
"Behave yourself" .
By God, I had no clue what that meant.
There I was energetic, full of life and wanting to do something real and my folks were saying things that frustrated and blocked me.

Music came a t a later age and the damage had been done; incidents that had impacted my personality at a ery deep level drove the way I behaved.
Seemed like my motto was
" I will win and show them".

And even now noone of that has changed.
How true the Basic Text is whenit reads

" WE CANNOT CHANGE THE NATURE OF THE ADDICT OR OF ADDICTION, BUT WE CAN CHANGE THE OLD LIE ONCE AN ADDICT ALWAYS AN ADDICT BY STRIVIN TO MAKE RECOVERY POSSIBLE".

I know that there is no real cure for my restlessness, but God and the NA Fellowship have got me to change direction and be a useful, loving human being and recovering addict !!
