As you know from our past conversations it is my belief that we choose our recovery. If we needed to avoid any location where we might encounter drugs, including alcohol, we would be very limited in our choices.
Just think of it...
I cannot think of a grocery store that doesn't not sell alcohol or some other substances (over the counter drugs) that could be used abusively.
It is rare to find eating establishments that do not serve alcohol.
I would not be able to fly in an airplane because there is alcohol on board.
I would not be able to leave my home because a drug deal can be done anywhere.
It is my belief that recovery opens MANY, MANY more doors than it closes. You could inform your fellow members that when you are working (playing your music) that you are not allowed to consume any alcohol/other drugs or else you will lose your employment. My guess is that most of them would also lose their jobs if they were drinking or using any other drug while on duty.
Be sure to let your fellows know that you appreciate their heartfelt concern for your well-being. It is comforting to know that they are seeking to keep you around the rooms of recovery as well. This is especially important to tell to those who may be attempting to pull you down; let them know how much it means to you that they are genuinely concerned for your recovery and how it touches your heart at their demonstration of such positive regard.
Be sure to continue attending meetings so that they, and you, are reminded of your commitment to your ongoing efforts in recovery.
Many hugs to you my friend,
Bob

Hey Raman! It's been a while. How's it going? Sounds like things have been going your way. It's really cool hearing good news on the board. I went back into recovery for a couple of months but I am feeling really good right now & it's so good to be home.
