Hello Terrilynn! Welcome...Congratulations on your 7 months. That is awesome.Try and remember that the joy is in the journey with recovery. Also if you think in terms of "one day at a time' it will eliminate for you any thoughts of halfway there scenarios. There is no time limit here.Living the NA way of recovery suggests making meetings, listening for a sponsor, getting into the solution by working Steps with a sponsor, share when you can, learn to identify and not compare and give back what you have been given through service commitments and carrying the message that an addict, any addict ,can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use and find a new way to live(5th tradition) .At 7 months clean I would hope you are working at this. Our literature tells us "that you can probably get clean just by making meetings but if you want to stay clean and and experience recovery you'll want to work the steps..I would also suggest getting some tools if you don't have them,Basic Text,IP pamphlets, and other NA approved literature. Can't build a house without some tools.Keep coming back here,as we are people here who share their experience, strength and hope with each other and work at staying clean and in recovery "one day a time"Glad you found us,others will be on to talk with you i'm sure......smile

"Ease on down the road" they say and on hindight Il say thats very true in recovery.

My first impulse in recovery was to rush  and get all the addicts I knew into the Program.
"Surely theyd love what Ive got" I thought.

The next impulse was to try and catch up with the 13 years or so Id lost of my life to addiction. I actually felt like a Rip Van Winkle,, you now ??? the guy that slept one afternoon and on waking up finds it is 14 years later and the everythings changed !!!

My immediate reaction was panic at realising what all Id lost in using;
my self respect, oppurtunities for career advancement, love and relationships and most of all spirituality.
Id become a zombie, only this zombie was dead emotionally and was waiting for the final release from the earth body.
Then a miracle happens and I stop using.
Another miracle follows that restores me to sanity.

Today, Ive come to realize that an addict, any addict can stop using, lose the desire to use and find a new way of life.
You know Terrilynn,,,there have been many moments in my recovery when Ive distinctly felt like Im living life all over again. Im given one more chance at all those chances Id lost on.
Its like Im not thinking of what I lost but am amazed at what I find in my recovery each day.
No wonder that Basic Text says "lost dreams awaken and new possiblities arise" and as long as I learn to be patient and greatful recovering addict, all good things will come my way !!

And yeah,,,,Best of luck to you Terrlynn and keep coming back,,,it works.

The only thing I can add is that your never half way there.
because how you be halfway finished with a journey that never ends.
This is a way of life,
and we live it one day at a time.

Congratulations on your 7 months. For us every clean day is a miracle. There will be good days and the ones which are not so good. Most important is to believe.NA family is always by your side, loving and supporting.Support is here, all you need to do is to reach out for it.
When I have the harder times, I pray and remember myself that it will not last forever, it will go by.Like after rain comes out the sun:)Love, understanding, support and faith that I get in NA help me get through those times.
With love and hugs,

Taking a Sponsor and working the Steps helps - it helped me look at things and experience them in a different way, for a change. Best wishes & welcome.
